81 mile ride from Live Oak to Gainesville. 10 to 15 mph NE wind that benefited us since we turned south for about two thirds of the ride. The past three days were 86, 76 & 81 miles 🚴 Just two more days to go!!
We have logged nearly 2,900 miles so we decided to focus the blog today on our experience with various chamois creams.
Here are some the chamois products the 2018 coasters used. Examples include OA Smooth Ride, Chamois Butt'r, Bag Balm, Dznuts, Buoudreux's Baby Butt Paste, Aquaphor & Eucerin as examples.
Antibacterial and lubrication are the key consideration points when selecting a product. Although our trip was not particularly hot or wet we believe it's important to use chamois cream as a precaution on a 52 day ride.
Henry prefers to use Chamois Butt'r original. Gary uses Dznuts Pro. On the other hand Adrian uses a combination of Dznuts Pro & OA Smooth Ride. Dznuts Pro is excellent from an antibacterial standpoint and OA Smooth Ride uses natural oils for lubrication including olive oil, tea tree oil & peppermint oil.
At $24 a tube Dznuts emerged over time as a favorite with many of the riders. At $12 a tube OA Smooth Ride offers a natural and compelling value proposition for your buns 😉

One of the things we noticed was gender specific products for Chamois Butt'r and Dznuts Pro. The marketing literature mentions PH differences for men and women.
Here is an example of gender specific marketing for Dznuts Pro and Dznuts Bliss. Check out the instructions for Bliss vs. Pro lol....
For the female version called Bliss the instructions state .... slowly and methodically shimmy shorts down, gently apply a liberal amount of Bliss to the perennial area & quickly pull shorts up and then be a champion and enjoy a long and comfortable ride. Bliss has you covered!
For the male version called Pro the intructions state drop your shorts to your ankles, apply a liberal amount of chamois cream directly to the perennial area and then be a champion and enjoy a long and comfortable ride.
Just be aware the active ingredients appear similar between the his and her products so it's possible this may be more about marketing segmentation and brand extension.
