Day 49 - Tallahassee to Live Oak

The noreaster came back to bite us today. 15mph headwinds most of the 77 mile ride. The key highlights today were visiting the birthplace of one our greatest African American musicians as well as seeing the inspiration for a classic nineteenth century song.

So today in Greeneville, the birthplace of Ray Charles we came upon a fitting bronze tribute to Ray that looked like it was lifted out of the blues brothers movie and Henry had to show his appreciation to Ray.

Another beautiful courthouse and town square in the south, this one in Montecello. This is only the second courthouse in the middle of our route that we had to bike around.

...and this State Park and river was the inspiration for Stephen Fosters song called Old Folks At Home. Better known to everyone as way down upon a Suwannee River, though it appears he never saw the Suwannee River.

Back to 🚴🚴  We are getting closer to the Atlantic Ocean and even closer to our college town in Madison. Go Badgers!

So their is a alot of conversation and lobbying on who will lead the group into St. Augustine. Instead of kissing babies, one of the lead candidates PAPOW is seen riding a pig instead of a bicycle to highlight his credentials and abilities for leading the group into St. Augustine.  GO PAPOW!!!
