Day 41 - Poplarville to Ocean Springs

Another continued stretch of nice rides from Lousiana and Mississippi.  74 miles and 2,050 feet of climbing with ideal riding conditions.

Drivers are courteous, speed limits are managable, roads are in nice shape and the weather is beautiful (mid 70s and low humidity).  As we cycle towards the gulf stronger south headwinds have become a factor.

What has surprised the authors most are the rolling hills and terrain that looks similar to WI.  One of the climbs today was an 8.2% grade, so don't be fooled into thinking Lousiania and Mississippi are flat.

The authors think with all the sensitivity with confederate symbols that the state of Mississippi may have some challenges with their state flag.

Photo of Henry early in the morning as the sun is cresting in the horizon.

Small lake along the route today.  Low traffic and beautiful scenery.  Definitely one of our top five rides to date.

Mississippi country roads are ideal for cyclists.  45mph route most of the day.  In Texas the speed limit would most likely be 70 or 75 on the same roads.  Now you know why Henry and Adrian like Mississippi.

Ranches and horse farms were abound in areas we thought we might see more poverty.   Here is the entrance to Blackjack Ranch with Adrian's bike by the gate.

Entrance to Triple S Ranch.  Another very nice ranch we cycled past today.

Tommorow we cycle 79 miles to Dauphin Island, Alabama, our seventh state.  Things have been good as of late, but storms are brewing on the horizon!!
