Day 50 - 81 Miles & Review of Chamois Creams!!

81 mile ride from Live Oak to Gainesville. 10 to 15 mph NE wind that benefited us since we turned south for about two thirds of the ride. The past three days were 86, 76 & 81 miles 🚴 Just two more days to go!! We have logged nearly 2,900 miles so we decided to focus the blog today on our experience with various chamois creams. Here are some the chamois products the 2018 coasters used. Examples include OA Smooth Ride, Chamois Butt'r, Bag Balm, Dznuts, Buoudreux's Baby Butt Paste, Aquaphor & Eucerin as examples. Antibacterial and lubrication are the key consideration points when selecting a product. Although our trip was not particularly hot or wet we believe it's important to use chamois cream as a precaution on a 52 day ride. Henry prefers to use Chamois Butt'r original. Gary uses Dznuts Pro. On the other hand Adrian uses a combination of Dznuts Pro & OA Smooth Ride. Dznuts Pro is excellent from an antibacterial standpoint and OA Smooth Rid...

Day 52 - Palatka to St. Augustine

C2C complete!! 2,950 miles and EFI (every final inch). 84,000 feet of climbing. Riding into St. Augustine and completing this cross country journey was an incredible experience. We both feel blessed to have had the time, health & opportunity to embark on this adventure. Henry and I were lucky... no flats, no breakdowns & no falls. Day 1 - San Diego to Alpine

Before we started Henry & I shook hands and dipped our rear tire into the Pacific Ocean. Bubba Barron took the following photograph of the 43 coasters at the start in San Diego. Today was nearly 3500 feet of climbing with a max grade of 9.8%. I missed my turn and ended up climbing this mountain. After getting to the top of the mountain and not seeing any riders I went back down. They have an acronym called EFI for riding every "final" inch. Well today I did EFI + an extra mountain. Need to pay closer attention to the route markers tomorrow 😉
