Day 24 - Comstock to Bracketville

Today was payback for the favorable weather and wind conditions we have had to date. We had a 15 mph headwind for 72.7 miles.  The ending temperature was nearly 90 degrees. We also had drizzle most of the morning making visibility challenging.  Lastly, highway 90 chip seal was nasty after Del Rio.  Tomorrow afternoon we finally leave highway 90 and head into the Texas hill country.

Highway 90 chip seal today was just a bit better than our trip to Marfa.  We are happy to say goodbye to Texas highway 90 tommorow.  We recommend cyclists avoid highway 90 if possible except for the great stretch coming into Alpine.

We are delighted to leave Hwy 90 tommorow as mentioned above!   Lots of chip and very little seal.

Four changes we noticed today.  First we left the desert after the Pecos River.  Second, the humidity increased.  Third we are seeing green vegatation again and lastly the emergence of high fence ranches.

Fort Clark Springs is where we are staying in Bracketville this evening.  Very nice former Army Base.

After a difficult day the highlight was a great dinner from Ann and clean laundry.
