Day 14 - Rodeo to Columbus

Our fun high wind day was followed by a high mileage day that started with a temperature of 37 degrees.  We cycled 93 miles in some of the most remote country so far on this trip.

Our lodging was the Painted Pony Resort in Rodeo, New Mexico. A wonderful Adobe in the desert.

We left at sunrise to make sure everyone made it to Columbus in time for dinner.

The riders had all been sensitized by a guest speaker to the concentration of poisonous snakes in the area we would be riding through. Some were even mesmerized by the live snakes that were passed around.

Communities along the way set up nice open air rest stops with great views of the surrounding countryside.

The aptly named Roadrunners enjoy their lunch in the sun as they wait for the Peloton to catch up.

Unfortunately, the tour leaders bike double flatted in the school parking lot this afternoon as Gary waited for access to a hot shower and the internet.
